The battery is charged by a battery charger that is provided. It is equipped with a long cable so the charger can be inside the med room, away from dust and grime. The charging cable and the Poultry Hawk® have quick connects so you simply plug the charger into the electrical box.
The time between charges varies based on the amount of use. We have found it to last for several days on a single charge during the heaviest used times of the flock.
We understand this concern, but we have not found the weight to be a problem. Here are a few things for you to consider:
1. The rail system distributes the weight of the Poultry Hawk® to multiple trusses.
2. In areas where snow load is a concern, the weight of snow a house holds far surpasses the weight of a trolley and rail.
3. In most houses, all the feed hoppers are hanging on one or two trusses. When these hoppers have feed in them the weight on those trusses is increased significantly.
If you still have concerns about the load our system adds to the trusses, we encourage you to have an engineer look at your specific situation.
